Made in the Streets

On September 15th a college/church friend of mine and I are stuffing our suitcases full and heading out to live on a "farm" outside of Nairobi in the Eastern Province of Kenya, Africa. We are working with a ministry that calls itself "Made in the Streets" or MITS for short. To find out more about MITS you can click on the link below but basically it's an orphanage/training school for children ages 14 and up who were previously living on the streets of Nairobi. A wonderful American couple (that spend much of their time in Kenya) started the ministry from scratch 15 years ago and its continued to grow since then. My friend and I will both be "interns" which means we don't know exactly what we are doing but we'll be glad to figure it out. I'm staying there about 6 months unless I decide to live there forever but that would probably only work if I could convince the 11 (soon to be 12!) members of my immediate family to move out their with me. I'll work on it.

P.S. so this is the blog that I will TRY to keep updated (with pics) once we leave but if it fizzles out you should blame HALEY- since she's the one in charge of this ;)
